Apple just announced the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and a special phone that is called iPhone X to commemorate the tenth anniversary of iPhone. Soon after announcing this year's iPhones, the old iPhones including the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s Plus get a major price cut. But over and above the slashed price, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s are now available at a price as low as Rs 5,999 and Rs 17,999 respectively only on Flipkart.
Wait, what? The iPhone 6 for Rs 5,999. But of course, there is a catch and there is devil in the fine print.
The actual price of the iPhone 6 32GB edition is Rs 25,999 right now on Flipkart. But a lot of consumers are getting emails from the e-commerce site that it can be bought for as low as Rs 5,999. Additionally, Flipkart is also offering a special discount of Rs 3,501, which should get you the iPhone 6 for cheaper still.
So what's the catch. It is called the exchange offer, and fairly ridiculous one at that. The iPhone 6 will be available at Rs 5,999, but that's only if you exchange it with a very high-end phone like the iPhone 7 Plus, or may the Galaxy S8. But the question here is why will one exchange an iPhone 7 Plus to get an iPhone 6? No one will, and that is the whole point. The exchange offer is ridiculous and stated price of Rs 5,999 for the iPhone 6 is misleading.
Offers like these are senseless. The reason is simple: why will one give away a premium phone like the Galaxy S8 for a phone that is already outdated. The iPhone 6 is an almost 3 year old phone.
Coming to iPhone 6s, the scenario is almost the same here as well. The phone - iPhone 6s -- 32GB variant is originally available at Rs 37,999, but Flipkart is selling the phone at Rs 17,999. Again, the offer will only be valid if you exchange it with a premium and expensive phone. In this case though, even if you give away your premium, and possibly new, phone, you will get the iPhone 6s at Rs 18,000, actually at Rs 18,099 to be precise.
Actually, if you're a die-hard Apple fan, the iPhone SE seems to make more sense for you to buy than the iPhone 6. In India, Apple iPhone SE 32GB sells at Rs 26,000, while the 128GB variant sells at Rs. 35,000. Flipkart is also offering an exchange offer of up to Rs 20,000 on iPhone SE, in case you're looking to get it with some additional discount.
Meanwhile, after the price cut, last year's iPhone 7 (32GB) model is available at Rs 49,000, while the 128GB storage variant is now available at Rs 58,000. While the iPhone 7 Plus 32GB model is available at Rs 49,000, the 128GB storage variant costs Rs 58,000 after the price cut. The iPhone 6s Plus (32GB) and 128GB storage variants are available at Rs 40,000 and Rs 49,000 respectively.
iPhone 6 for Rs 5,999 on Flipkart? Yes, but DON'T take that offer
