Wine is a program also known as “Wine is not an emulator” lets users run windows programs on other operating system like Linux,Mac OSX ,the same program is now available for android platform ,which lets them run Windows programs on their phone,When users think of an emulator, they tend to think of things like game console emulators or virtualization software, However, Wine is a compatibility layer – it runs Windows applications in much the same way Windows does,There is no inherent loss of speed due to “emulation” when using Wine, nor is there a need to open Wine before running your application.
Wine (originally an acronym for “Wine Is Not an Emulator”) is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, macOS, & BSD. (Now also available for android) Instead of simulating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or emulator, Wine translates Windows API calls into POSIX calls on-the-fly, eliminating the performance and memory penalties of other methods and allowing you to cleanly integrate Windows applications into your desktop.
Wine 3.0 is now available for the android platform, and can be installed on a device directly via the Apk file package, the app offers a full-screen windows display including the start menu, the APK download is available at the Wine HQ website ,linked above, users need to ensure that installations from ‘unknown sources’ are turned on,in their android device ,in order to proceed the installation.
At this time the app supports Audio and Basic graphics, but does not supports Direct 3D,the app is currently quite limited for the android users with some basic functionalities,Wine offers best results from android devices with an x86 Intel processor, for android users with ARM processor wine uses open source emulator QEMU.
