If you are using a Google Chrome extension called Shitcoin Wallet then it is recommended that you remove it immediately. The extension has been found to have malicious code that steals private keys and credentials. The Shitcoin Wallet extension is not common among all Chrome users and is primarily an Ethereum wallet which helps cryptocurrency enthusiasts to manage their Ethers.
The extension has been described: “Ethereum wallet means you can use it for managing, transferring, receiving your Ethers but also can use this wallet to interact with thousands of ERC20 tokens that thrive on the Ethereum blockchain.”

MyCrypto platform director of security Harry Denley claims that there are major security risks in this extension. MyCrypto is an open-source blockchain platform. “The extension is dangerous to users in two ways. First, any funds (ETH coins and ERC0-based tokens) managed directly inside the extension are at risk. Second, the extension also actively injects malicious JavaScript code when users navigate to five well-known and popular cryptocurrency management platforms,” Denley said in a report by ZDNet. The malicious code is activated on five websites-- MyEtherWallet.com, Idex.Market, Binance.org, NeoTracker.io, and Switcheo.exchange-- and is said to steal login details and private keys.
Not just the Google Chrome extension, the report suggests that the desktop apps of Shitcoin Wallet for PC also have similar malicious codes despite popular antivirus apps passing it as safe to use.
Recently, South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit reported that cryptocurrency worth $49 million were stolen. Upbit CEO Lee Seok-woo revealed that 342,000 ETH were transferred from the Upbit Ethereum Hot Wallet to an unknown wallet. The CEO assured users that it will cover the loss for its customers but given the rise in cryptocurrency theft it, wallet holders need to proceed with caution.
